5G coverage ambiguity

Hi Team

I am a core Optus user- starting from their Iphone plan and nbn plan as well. but unfortunately, i had to move away from Optus network as the 5G network/tower still is not updated in my location at Newcastle. I have checked in the Optus coverage map, this was showing it may be available in my area, but whenever i ask the sales team, they said, need to wait as it is too close.

Has anyone actually successfully seen a 5G signal on Optus? I am now tempted to take my account back to Telstra 5G.   I am actually disappointed with the Optus offering of 5G.

Regards

Mousumi

Re: 5G coverage ambiguity

Hey there @mousumimuna, thanks for reaching out.

It's not great to hear that you are having trouble getting any 5G coverage in your area of Newcastle.

The rollout of our 5G network aims to reach out to as many of our customers as possible, as we gradually start to build more towers in more areas over time.

I have taken a look at the general Newcastle area and can see that there is currently 5G available in some pockets, but not currently available in every area at this stage, unfortuanlty.

In saying this, as we continue to build on our 5G network, more areas (such as your own) will start to become 5G covered locations.

If you have any other concerns about this, do feel free to reach out again.

Re: 5G coverage ambiguity

What does it say when you put your address into https://www.optus.com.au/broadband-nbn/5g-home-broadband/5g-home-broadband-plan and try to order online?

That is the final determination if you can order or not at your address. The sales team are no better than the online system. They can not over ride the 5G Address check.
