Windows Steps

Is The WidevineCdm Component Up-To-Date?

Note: Anti-virus and/ or firewall software can prevent the Widevine Cdm from updating successfully. We suggest disabling your anti-virus and/ or firewall temporarily before checking for an update. Once the component has been updated, re-enable your security software.

  1. In the address bar on the Chrome browser, type 'chrome://components' and press Enter or Return on your keyboard

  2. Locate the 'WidevineCdm' component

  3. Select 'Check for update'

  4. Once you see 'Status - Component updated', restart the Chrome browser and try Optus Sport again

Note: If you see the message 'Component not updated', Chrome may still be running on your computer. To resolve this, restart your computer, then attempt the above steps again.

Enabling The WidevineCdm Plug-In
  1. In the address bar on the Chrome browser, type 'chrome://plugins' and press Enter or Return on your keyboard

  2. Locate the 'Widevine Content Decryption Module' plug-in and select 'Enable'. If you do not see 'Enable', check the box next to 'Always allowed to run'

  3. Once the WidevineCdm plug-in is enabled, try Optus Sport again

If The WidevineCdm Is Missing

If you have checked chrome://components and WidevineCdm was not listed, follow the troubleshooting steps below to resolve the issue.

Check to make sure you are using Chrome from Google. Note: Chromium is not supported.

Removing The Widevine CDM Folder
  1. Quit all open Chrome browsers - including this window! You may want to print the following steps

  2. Press the 'Windows' key and the letter 'R' on your keyboard

  3. Type '%userprofile%/appdata/local' in the text field

  4. Select the 'Google' folder

  5. Select the 'Chrome' folder

  6. Select the 'User Data' folder

  7. Select the 'WidevineCDM' folder and drag to the Recycle Bin

  8. Right click on the Recycle Bin and select 'Empty Recycle Bin'

  9. Launch the Chrome browser

  10. Type 'chrome://components' in the address bar and press enter

  11. Under the WidevineCDM plug-in, click the 'Check for update' button

  12. When the update is complete, you will see a message that reads 'Status - Component updated'

  13. Once complete, try Optus Sport again

If Anti-Virus Software Is Installed

Sometimes anti-virus software can interfere with the player Optus Sport uses to play content.

  • Disable your anti-virus software and play your content again
  • If the content resumes after disabling your anti-virus software, this may indicate that the software is outdated or unintentionally preventing the Optus Sport service from playing. Please reach out to your anti-virus software manufacturer to address these issues

Mac Steps

Is The WidevineCdm Component Up-To-Date?

  2. Hold down the 'Option (Alt)' key and select 'Library'

  3. Select the 'Application Support' folder

  4. Select the 'Google' folder

  5. Select the 'Chrome' folder

  6. Locate the 'WidevineCDM' folder

  7. Drag the 'WidevineCDM' folder to the trash then, right click and select 'Empty trash'

  8. Launch the Chrome browser

  9. Type 'chrome://components' in address bar

  10. Under the WidevineCDM plug-in, click the 'Check for update' button

  11. When the update is complete, you will see a message that says 'Status - Component updated'

  12. Once complete, try Optus Sport again
