gmail, outlook and optus 4g mobile broadband

hi, trying to set up gmail IMAP through Outlook 365 and Optus 4g mobile broadband

despite following all of gmail suggestions (less secure apps, IMAP enabled etc) keep getting authentication/time out error:

sending - reported error (0x800ccc0f) - connection to server was interrupted. Please contact your service administrator or ISP

Mail app on windows 10 works only for receive (cannot send either). Just outlook 365 which has the send errors (I can receive Gmail no problems through outlook).

My Outlook 365 settings are:

POP/IMAP account settings

Name: my name

Email address: my gmail address

Server info:

Account type : IMAP

incoming mail server: imap.gmail.com

outgoing mail server: smtp.gmail.com

Logon info:

username <my email@gmail.com>

password : my password

remember password Yes

Require logon using secure password authentication NO

Outgoing server:

My outgoing server SMTP requires authentication YES

Use same settings as my incoming mail server YES

Advanced:

Server Port numbers

Incoming server IMAP: 993

Following type of encrypted connection: SSL/TLS

Outgoing server SMTP: 587

Following type of encrypted connection : STARTTLS

Server Timeouts

2 mins

Folders

Root folder path - blank

Sent items: Do not save copies of sent items Yes

Any help appreciated! Very frustrating! Have disabled windows defender firewall.
