FetchTV - YouTube app disappeared!

Hi guys

 

Youtube application has disappeared after a software update.

 

Are we expecting this to be fixed anything soon?

What model fetch box do you have?

 

The original box is no longer supported by Youtube itself and the app was removed from it.

Hi, I think it is gen 1/2 - got a tapered remote control. Got it last year with NBN bundle.

Hey there @puneetmathur, unfortunately there's no way of getting the YouTube app back on the current Fetch unit that you have. 

As it's now only available on the Mighty unit, if you require the YouTube you will need to update your STB. This wasn't a decision made by Optus and was a global decision made by YouTube themselves.

So heres the next question.

 

Once I upgrade to Mighty what happens with the old Gen 2 box. Can it be used as a multiroom box, or do we just bin it?? 

Next question what happens to recorded content on Gen2 box can it be transfered to Mighty. This part is insane as Ive had a box fail before and you cant get your recorded content off the box. Can the Mighty record to an external drive so that if something goes wrong you still have the recorded content. This is more of what a Media Hub should look like rather than recorded content lost with box.

You can potentially use your Gen 2 Fetch box for Yes TV by Fetch Multiroom.

 

In order to share content, note the following:

  • All boxes must be on the same Fetch TV account (up to three set top boxes are allowed per account)

  • Multiroom works on Mighty, Mini and Gen 2 Fetch TV boxes connected to the same local network (either via Ethernet or WiFi) and attached to the same account

  • They can't mix Yes TV boxes with a box from another Fetch TV service provider

We'd need to process the order in such a way as to not deactivate your current Fetch set top box. That'd be us simply attaching a new Fetch box to the account without cancelling the old one. 

There's an additional $15.00 fee to access Multiroom, You'd probably be better off organising two Fetch Mighty boxes or even a mini for an extra $10.00 per month. What ever you do, do not dispose of the Gen 2 set top box. If it's not returned to us, you'll incur a $199.00 non-return fee. 

 

You should be able to use a USB external hard drive to upload any recorded content on the device. Have you given this a shot?
