Fetch

We have just moved house and asked OPTUS to relocate the service.

We finally had the fetch box installed yesterday and the fetch has still not being activated.

Does anyone have any ideas how to get OPTUS to activate their box.

From networking experience this should be automatically connected.

Re: Fetch

This is a new Fetch box or your old one?

What happens when you boot it up? Do you get to a screen asking for an activation code? Do you step through connecting to a wired/wifi network?

Re: Fetch

Yes it is connected to the internet via a patchlead to the router.

No activation code has been requested as it states that the fetch box has not been activated

Re: Fetch

And it is a new box? Not your old one?

If that is the case it sounds like Optus need to do something on their end. Possibly activate it or perhaps send out a replacement (Optus have a habit of permanently locking Fetch boxes in some transactions)

You might need to wait until tomorrow business hours to contact Optus and ask for the Fetch diviesion but maybe they can do it now - try livechat or facebook.

Re: Fetch

Peter

You have confirmed my suspicions that Optus is at fault. They are very slow at activating a fetch box that is sent in a beautiful upmarket Optus box.

Re: Fetch

Once we've activated your NBN service, it can take between 24-48 hours for the activation of your Fetch service.

The activation of the box is dependent on the closure of the NBN Broadband order. If there's something on the back-end preventing the order from flowing through to completion, this may delay the activation of your Fetch STB.

The activation code is sent via email/SMS once it's ready for use. If possible, I'd give our social media service a shot. You can message them directly over Facebook or Twitter. There's every chance that they'll be able to push the activation through from their side.
