Fetch Software Update 3.11 Bellinger

Fetch have started rolling out an update to Optus Fetch set top boxes on the 7th of December. This firmware has a host of new features as well as bug fixes. 

The new firmware is called 3.11 Bellinger.

Note: Gen 2 boxes will not be included in this release.

What has changed?

  • Support for 4K movies (Mighty only – available Dec yet titles to be announced).
    A 4K icon will display next to movies that are available to buy or rent in 4K (2160P).
  • More Apps (coming soon)
  • Option to hide / show program info
  • Added Favourites shortcut
  • Reduced opacity on Channel Scanner and Info Bar
  • Rotten Tomatoes data for TV Shows
  • Reverse EPG on Channel Scanner
  • Support for Bluetooth Remote and Voice on Mini and Mighty

Bluetooth Remote:

Support for Bluetooth Remote and Voice on Mini and Mighty*

The Voice UI allows users to:

  • Launch apps (e.g. Netflix, Amazon Prime Video plus more)
  • Change channels
  • Conduct voice search
  • Conduct voice search for YouTube (“Search YouTube for ‘iPhone 12’”)

How to use it:

The remote pairing is done automatically. Once paired, press the “microphone” button and hold. Say what you want to see, e.g. "Go to Optus Sport 1".

If the voice command doesn’t understand fully, it presents a search option with the words spoken.

*These functions are only available on the new Fetch Bluetooth remote that can only be purchased from https://fetch.com.au/optus for $29.95.

4K Support (Mighty only - requires a 4K TV):

4K is offered when the symbol appears as shown below. Take note that not all shows / movies have 4K on offer.

More apps:

There will be more apps coming to Fetch located under Menu -> Apps -> All.
Some examples coming soon are:

  • Vevo – world largest premium music video provider.
  • Kidoodle - A safe streaming platform for kids aged 0-12 with content hand-picked by parents. 
  • Vimeo - Created by a group of filmmakers, Vimeo is a video sharing platform that provides a way to share and promote creative work.
    • The Weather Network
    • Screensaver apps (Aquarium / Fireplace)

And many, many more.

Info Panel:

  • On default (on), program details will automatically be displayed for the channel selected.
  • With this setting, a total of 6 channels are visible in the TV Guide.
  • When the Info panel is turned off, there will be no program information automatically displayed.
  • With this setting, a total of 8 channels are visible in the TV Guide.

To switch it off, go to Manage > Settings > User Preferences > TV Guide > Info Panel > Off.

Add Favourite Shortcuts:

  • To add a favourite channel is a matter of going to that channel and pressing the yellow button. This will place the channel right on top of the EPG. You can select more if required.
  • To head straight to the top of the EPG (favourite channel/s), press the green button.
  • To remove, go to the favourite channel then press the yellow button to remove.

Still no way to revert the epg to the old colour. Also where is the microphone button on the remote.

Thanks for your question. The support for Bluetooth Remote and Voice on Mini and Mighty functions are only available on the new Fetch Bluetooth remote that can only be purchased from the Fetch TV site for $29.95.
