EPL via satellite tv

Rocky7

Hi

I see that Optus offers the ability to watch the Premier League via Satellite service with a satellite set top box.

Can anyone tell me whether they have this installed for their home/apartment in a metropolitan area? How can one go about getting this process started?

I called 1800 230 158 for information per the website but the first four times I called, no one knew anything about it. However, when I finally connected with someone, they said that there was no satellite service for Optus TV in Sydney metro areas, only in rural areas with no internet access. Which is ironic because the website also mentions ‘Our installers work all over Australia, but there are some rural areas that may not be covered’.

I live in an apartment in the Sydney metro area with Foxtel connected via satellite for the building, and this is readily available in metro areas. So I find it really strange that Optus Satellite TV service isn’t.

I popped in-store to ask also and no one could offer any information for me neither. So is this not available anymore?

Note, I’m NOT looking for Fetch tv or Fetch mini as this streams the Premier League via internet. I am referring solely to the satellite service because it is virtually lag-free, not reliant on internet connection and in HD. Currently I watch EPL via my laptop and I have NBN at home with speeds of 92mb/s and it is still a poor experience (poor frame rate, lag, and poor resolution quality). I just want to watch ggames with the same quality as I used to do on Foxtel.

Thanks.

That same link also states the following: Optus Satellite cannot currently be installed in apartments, some townhouses (Multi Dwelling Units) and caravans.

Yes, I note the link does say that, but the link also says ‘Our satellite option needs to be installed on a roof you own, and you'll need landlord or Strata permission where necessary.’

So I wondered why it mentions strata permission if it’s not available in apartments/townhouses.

Hence, I would optimistically that wording you refer to as in the actual satellite dish cannot be installed inside the apartment. This would be expected as the satellite dish would need to be on the roof similar to Foxtel satellite which our building currently has.

Nevertheless, my questions were also asking whether this is available for a house, and secondly whether anyone can confirm Optus sport satellite service is NOT available at all in the metro areas for home use. As I have seen satellite service available and connected in pubs etc.

Thanks

Optus supplied EPL is via VAST for consumer use.

This has the map and as you can see - none of metro sydney is covered as its serviced via standard terrestrial tv networks.

Unless your an Optus Business cusotmer that wants to partner e.g. a pub etc
