Does Fetch Tv Take 24 hours to activate

Just received my fetch tv at 1pm Friday 5th June 2020 

Hooked it all up and thinking this is great get to use it on the long weekend.

 

Connect it to the internet and then nothing.

 

Message support. 

 

They say it will take 24 hours to activate.

 

Is this true or just a casual answer that optus support uses.

What do you mean "nothing?"

Is there anything on the screen?

Is it asking you to enter an activation code?

Do you have an activation code?

Activation doesn't depend on business or non-business days. Once you received the fetch box it will auto update on our system.
Sometime it takes 4hrs or maximum of 24hrs.

I see that the order process of fetch is not yet updated from our end therefore there has been a delay in getting a activation code.

William I called the activation team however it looks like currently no one is around. I understand that it must be annoying to you and i know that the timeframe has been exceeded more than one day. But as the order process has not yet been updated from our end we couldn't provide you the activation code. 
I would thus request you to kindly contact us few days later so that we help you right away with the code.

Currently on the screen it says try to connect I click on that it spins around for 20 seconds and reverts to the same screen,

You would think Optus would have a simple process in place to take an order for a box, get it delivered, activate it. Apparently the guys still manage to stuff it up.

So you don't have an activation code either? Have you tried a hard reset? Also you need to confirm the internet is working to the box. Is it plugged directly into your modem?

Just strange you are getting nothing on screen. Perhaps plug it in to a friend's place? Unfortunately the optus Fetch team seems to only operate business hours so this weekend's entertainment is probably a bust.

Another update on Optus’s stupid incompetence

I was checking with the 2 different teams in regards with fetch activation.

The activation date is 8th June today and I was advised, it will get updated further on the order with activation code as I am not able to see this yet.

This should happen by the end of the day or by tomorrow as advised.

Just a day wait time till tomorrow.

Can you please send a message to our Social Media team on Facebook or Twitter? Include your Fetch box's serial number in your message. They'll then grab your account details and check out what's happening with the activation of your box, and hopefully get this all resolved.

Well I awoke this morning to no active service.

 

Before I saw your message @Aron_YC  I was already on call trying to resolve this yet again

 

After a 45 min call I was told that this has been escalated and the reference no and that I will be contacted between 24-48 hrs.

So in total it's going to be 7 days since delivery until the fetch boxes activate 😞

Let’s see what tomorrow brings

Very dissatisfied at the level of service that Optus is providing.

Hiding behind levels of people and teams I’m sure there is a person that could resolve this with in 10 minutes not in 10 days or more which seems to be what is happening.
