Hi,
I've signed up for the Optus Entertainment bundle (Unlimited broadband, Optus TV with Fetch and phone line for $95 a month).
The previous tenants had FOXTEL so did not have a digital antenna. So I have a couple of questions:
1. Do we need a digital antenna to use Yes TV?
2. Does Yes TV include the Free To Air channels?
Thanks in advance for the help!
All the information provided to you about Yes TV.
Hope this helps!
Have a blessed one...
Nice one.
Thank you. After looking through the Doc,
1. Yep a Digital Antenna is needed
2. The box will give access to the FTA channels
Hi Muleve,
Just to clarify for you and others that might be wondering about digital antennas. Put simply there is no such thing as a digital antenna, this is just a made up marketing tool akin to the whole hdmi cable fiasco. TV stations now broadcast a digital signal as opposed to the old analogue signal through the same UHF and VHF frequencies as before, so what worked then should also work now.
If you don't have an antenna then any UHF/VHF combination antenna that covers the full spectrum of frequencies currently used in Australia will work just fine. If you already have an older antenna on your roof, it will proabably work just fine. What can make a difference though is the condition of the antenna, joins and cabling due to age plus if it is installed correctly (orientation). For detailed information go to the http://myswitch.digitalready.gov.au/ website and enter your postcode then when prompted find your exact location on the map. It will give you all the info you need for your area. Antenna direction, orientation, signal strength and if a signal amplifier may be required.
To test this I have used a pair of old rabbit ears that are over 20 years old and still get a great picture. Remember with a digital broadcast you will either have a great picture or you won't have a picture. If your picture looks fine and there are no glitches, then there is nothing for you to do and nothing that will improve it so save some money and enjoy.
Nice one. thank you for the info whcih is very helpful!
We have no antenna of any kind on the house so hopefully when we get one installed, it'll sort us out.
Cheers
You're welcome. Yes getting an antenna will help with getting all the free to air channels to work. Good luck.
We are in the same boat we are unable to receive any digital channels so we are unable to record on our fetch top box and to watch the EPL on SBS.
Due to there being no more analog signals how do we use the fetch channels with antenna.
Do we need a digital antenna
Hey @Konto8, the Fetch set top boxes have a digital tuner so all you need to do is connect your regular antenna cable to it. 🙂
