Fetch Recording

I have been unable to record some matches.

Tried to record Newcastle vs Leeds and Man City vs West Brom this am.

Was not able to set up either using the Live and Upcoming. I only had the option to record using Record by setting the record all matches for say Man City.

Tried this but it failed.

Tried to record directly from the channel in this case Optus 3 and got the message that I could not record from this channel.

I was able to record two matches that listed the ability to record in Live and Upcoming.

Tried a hard reset( took out the plug ) but made no difference.

What's going on?

Hey @grapenose, it's not to learn that you're experiencing Optus Sport Recording issues on your Fetch STB. 


You should be able to record matches if you have a Mighty or Generation 2 Fetch Set Top Box and also be able to series link by team to record the whole season. Please note that we also have the Fetch on-demand feature will allow you to view matches approximately 2 hours after the live match has ended; this feature is available on all versions of Fetch set top boxes.


If you tried unplugging and resetting the Fetch Set-Top Box, you could next try doing a Soft Reset with your Fetch box to see if this resolves your issue?


For a Soft Reset:


1. Turn off your Fetch TV box and wait for at least 30 seconds, then turn it back on


2. Within 2 minutes of restarting your Fetch box, press Red > Green > Yellow > Blue on your remote


3. Keep pressing these buttons in order until the R or Paw light on the Fetch box starts flashing red. This usually occurs after the screen turns off and on


4. Once the Fetch box restarts, you will need to enter your activation code and complete the setup process


If this does not fix your issue, you can then Hard Reset. Please keep in mind, a Hard Reset will erase any saved content & recordings on your Fetch box.

Tried a soft reset. The problem still persists.

I have a retail Fetch Mighty.

Live and Upcoming seems to be the problem.

I can set up some recordings but not all.

For instance I am unable to directly record Man U vs Sheffield United, as when I go to try this I only have the option to record using Set Team Recording ie record every game for say Man U. I tried this for Leeds but it failed to record.

If I go to the TV guide for Thursday Optus Sport 1 I can set a recording for 5am Live: Goal Rush which appears to be Chelsea vs Wolverhampton.

However if I go to Optus Sports 3 and try to record that match at 4:50 am it just takes me back to the Optus Sport Home app

I cannot record Brighton V Fulham as it appears not to be in the TV guide

I think it might be that there is a problem between the TV guide and the Optus Sports app

Thank you for conducting a soft reset and for providing us with more information, @grapenose. Have you tried re-installing the app and ensuring that your Fetch is fully updated with 3.11 Bellinger? You can check your version at Menu > Manage > Settings > Device Info.

The firmware is 3.12 !!

I am not aware that you can re-install the app. I believe it is part of the Fetch installed apps

Hey @grapenose, Optus Sport channels CH952 – CH955 on Fetch have switched from linear channels to virtual channels awhile back. Virtual channels have no recording, team tagging or series tagging functionality. 


However if you have a look on your Optus Sport subscription - you will still have access to replays, Live Matches, Highlights and more. All recording will be made available there for your consideration and enjoyment

Hey @grapenose, Optus Sport 1 and Optus Sport 2 aren't virtual channels like the channels @Tuong_YC mentioned above. This means you shouldn't experience any difficulties recording one Optus Sport 1 or 2 on your Fetch.

I still have the same problem.

Have identified it as being unable to record matches between teams at the lower end of the league.

examples are West Brom v Fulham Sun Jan 31 01:50am

Crystal Palace v Wolves same time and date as above

These are on at the same time as Man City v Sheffield United but the Fetch Box can record 3 simultaneously.

When I go to these matches on the Live and Upcoming  tab all I get is two rectangles with the option to Record or Remind. The Record option takes me to Set Team Recording which did not work when I tried this with a previous match.

I can't find these matches in the TV guide for Optus Sport 1 or 2

Can these matches be recorded?

Hey mate, how were you attempting to record the games? If you were doing via Fetch, the channels do not have recording features anymore however in some instances depending on your TV model - you will still be able to record via the devices settings. Give those a shot @grapenose and see how you go. 


For your reassurance as well, the Optus Sport website as well as app will carry all the games including recordings and replays.
