Windows 10 data usage on new lap top treble what I used in on Windows 7 lap top

Have used Prepaid for years on my old windows 7 laptop. Purchased a new windows 10 lap top 2 months ago and have had to recharge 4 times since then. Am not using the internet any more than I was on the old laptop. Why is this happening and how can I remedy the situation,

Win 10 had a lot of programs that synchronise data and download data. 

Check the win 10 settings to see what is transferring data
