I've just come over to Optus 4G wireless broadband because I was with Vivid Wirelss and they are closing down, just like Virgin, who I was also with for my mobile.
I was advised by Optus that I would have no issues using the Vivid wirelss modem with my new Optus 4G sim. The speeds I get range between 1 to 17 Mbps. But most of the time I average about 4 to 6 Mbps.
The Vivid modem operates only in the 2.4 Ghz bandwidth. If I was to go with the standard Optus supplied modem, which opeates in the 5 Ghz band, would you expect my download speed to improve?

2.4Ghz refers to your WiFi connectivity to the Vivid modem, not the physical connection between Optus and the modem.
Are you using the correct APN name in your Vivid modem? They vary depending on the product you are on. What service are you on?

Hi Thanks for the reply,
I'm with Optus on their Wrreless broband plan, from what I see, they only have one.
Their standard modem says it is 4G Plus, and runs in the 5Ghz bandwidth, which they says offers faster speeds than the 2.4Ghz Modem supplied by Vivid. I'm wanting to know if that is true?

Wireless broadband is speed capped and has nothing to do with 2.4 or 5g wireless networks.
its limited to either 6/1 or 12/1 depending on the area and it’s congestion level.
