Sim Plan Activation

Hi, I just started my mobile plan yesterday.  I wanted to keep my old number so I wouldn't have to go through all the troubles of updating my new digits to all my contacts. I was told it would only take 15 mins to 4 hours maximum before my sim gets activated, for the first 5 mins my old sim deactivated, so I was hoping my new sim is already good for use, but it's not. I'm guessing there's an issue with the porting of the sim. Now I'm left with just a phone with an inactive sim. Monday's coming in and I need to have a proper contact number. i'd be happy to provide details needed in order to sort this issue out. I hope to hear from you soon.
