SMS

one contact does not receive sms but receives calls. I have used airplane mode removed  message data, soft reboot any other ideas

Is the phone or service new? Has this number ever been able to send texts?

 

We'll first need to identify if the issue is the phone or SIM. Have you tried a different SIM in the phone?

Phone 2 years old sim the same no problems until tuesday just one number does not receive sms but receives calls I receive sms and calls from that number. Optus said yesterday problem with my sms accounrt settings referred to techs they sms back today and said no network issues. Haven't tried different sim don't have one

All messages came through yesterday,I read on google this is a known Telstra fault, say they are working on it.

Can I automatically count characters in sms settings?

Oh great to hear you've been able to get some clarity on this one, @grum. In regards to counting your SMS characters I'm a little unsure what you mean, sorry? A number of handsets will count down from 160 (SMS character count) as you're writing a message, once this threshold is reached the message will automatically change into a MMS.
