Poor Reception

Hey, been with Optus mobile for 15 years and recently noticing v poor 3 and 4G reception in two outer Melbourne suburbs, Monash University, Clayton and parts of Beaumaris 3193. Any work being done in these suburbs?

Re: Poor Reception

Hi 3v,

No reported network issues/outages at each of those locations.

Any family members/friends/colleagues etc. on the same network experiencing the same?

Have you tried anything different, e.g. reset network settings, try a different phone, etc.

Re: Poor Reception

Thanks for the reply Ray, have done all the tests, (sim swap, reset etc) and other family members also with Optus on same phones experience similar degraded signal strength. In Our street in Beaumaris we live in a shallow area between 3 towers about 1.5k away, reception has never been 5 bars but usually 2 but last couple of months 1 or none. Friends with Telstra and Voda on similar phones receive 4-5 bars consistently. Could a consequence of the roll-out of the Optus One product prioritise those customers signal strength during peak demand?

Re: Poor Reception

No worries. That is an excellent question, does the signal strength only drop in peak periods? My understanding is that Optus One customers just receive network priority, not to the detriment of non Optus One customers.

Suggestion from here would be to contact our Technical Support team to have more of an in depth look at the coverage there.
