Optus Webmail exceedingly slow

Why is optus webmail so slow. It takes some minutes to log in and then more minutes to load the emails. Transferring to another folder, e.g. Spam, then also takes a long time.

I have good NBN connectivity and ALL other operations are satisfactorily fast. I note that this has been a (intermittent?) problem since at least 2016.

It is NOT a browser problem - I get the same performance in Firefox, Edge and Chrome.

I did contact the Optus experts. They took some unexplained action which dramatically improved Webmail. A bit of a problem that they seem not to monitor the system until someone complains
