I have had to put my SIM into an my old phone, due to my newer device dying.
I have no service, it just says SOS only.
I have tried turning it off and reinserting the card and haven't changed any settings.
Optus seems to have gotten rid of any helpful direct customer support. Obviously I can't call them.

If you send them a quick message, they'll send through an ID form for you to complete.
Otherwise, you might have to head in-store and organise a SIM replacement. We can only do SIM replacement over the phone (if you've picked up already) or in-store.
