Mobile Outage | Northern NSW

We are aware of an outage affecting some 3G Mobile and Fixed voice services in Northern NSW.

Given today’s extreme weather conditions, Optus is working to restore services as a priority. 

In an emergency, customers should dial Triple Zero (000) on their handset to connect to any available Mobile network in their area. Mobile customers may also switch to 4G enabled calls (VoLTE) to make voice calls from their mobile service.

We'll continue to send through updates as we receive more information. We Apologise for any inconvenience caused.

 

   How to enable VoLTE

     iPhone

  1. Open the Settings app
  2. Tap Mobile Data Options
  3. Tap Voice and Data 
  4. Toggle VoLTE on

     Samsung

  1. Open the Settings app 
  2. Tap Settings
  3. Tap Connections
  4. Tap Mobile Networks
  5. Toggle VoLTE on

Any update on services returning to normal ?

Not just 3G, I'm 4G and haven't had service for around 4 hours.  So, no good me 'switching' to 4G as it doesn't work either.  This is a woeful amount of information as to what's going on.

We've raised fault ticket - 22011044.


We have received confirmation that a number of impacted sites have been restored. We're working hard to restore services to the remaining sites. 


We'll send through another update shortly.

Update:   

The issue impacting 3G mobile voice and data services across North Eastern/Western NSW has now been resolved. 

We'll continue to monitor the sites that have been impacted.
