B818 modem and Mount Barker Summit tower

Hi
Do all Optus towers support the B818 modem? Specifically the tower located on Mount Barker Summit. When searching whistleout for a suitable plan, Optus wireless was recommended, then when checking on the Optus site, it said my address was not supported. I am about 1km away with full line of sight.

I just went through the optus website checkout system for that plan and it did not ask for an address, so I dont know why you ended up with a non supported message.

Thanks for responding
No ones given me an answer yet.
What’s your thoughts? I can’t speak with anyone at Optus. Their website directs me to chat only. I run the risk of signing up then owning a modem as a paper weight if it doesn’t work.

No address check when I signed up, I suggest you try again.

Re: B818 modem and Mount Barker Summit tower

Is your Mobile is with Optus what is coverage like at the home?  If your mobile is not with Optus but it is unlocked buy a cheap Optus Sim and see what the coverage is like.  Do some internet browsing at different times run some tests etc.

I am not an Optus employee. If a reply helps please give a Kudos and when an issue is solved please mark as solved.

Re: B818 modem and Mount Barker Summit tower

Hi
the modem was delivered yesterday but the mode light is staying red.
overnight at my current address and now at work.
optus coverage is fine at both addresses.
I haven't even tried it at the mount barker summit location yet.
Am i missing something?

You need to go into the router settings and make sure that the network mode is 4g only.
Optus in their infinite wisdom have buggy firmware that tries to put the unit into 3g mode, except this device does not have 3g support nor does the plan.
