SE is a slow device, Cat 4.
The E5186 is mainly getting stuck on 2300. It's not really worth $480. Don't know why it prefers 2300. The Home Wireless Broadband devices may have a preference for it. Were you on HWB originally?
Sad to say but the iPhone is doing probably what a $60 E5573 hotspot would do. It's probably found band 3 1800.
You need to use the band locking software to lock it to 1800 and some other band. Then the E5186 should work faster than the iPhone.
You were dudded pretty bad with all the new plans that have come out. It's always annoyed me that they throw in a free tablet of modem with the 24 month plans and there's no penalty to leave the contract.
The AC800s is valued more.
bought it last year through live chat (by now I know how useless they are...)
Was never happy with the modem and used my phone as hotspot when I needed a reliable and fast connection (same account / shared data)
By last year, you mean 4-5 months ago. When I signed up for the 200GB, they supposedly let me off my 140GB contract. I believe it when I see the next bill. My contract had 4.5 month to go. Just hang in there they will keep the 200GB plans coming and you can get your free modem.
They signalled the end of the 140GB plan, but changed their minds.
the results are in - and I am shocked!
50m away from tower (which actually just had some fixing being done today) - line in sight, no obstacles:
So the oldest device with the most basic 4G modem beats them all????
Mate has one of this old cheap 4g modem, going to give that a go as well. Looks to me like we are getting ripped off
