Unable to send or receive emails since I changed to optus webmail. I daresay I have set it up incorrectly so I hope there is a gentle soul out there that might hold me by the hand and guide me through the process. I just deleted my Thunderbird mail as someone got into it and I receive literally 240+ Return emails Unable to etc...

Not sure I understand the question Rod. Webmail requires no setup as you simply login with your email address and password and start using it.
you are quite correct. This does (did) work for me until I tried using another mail program, which was absolutely terrible. I came back to Thunderbird mail and could not send anything. Incoming mail was no problem.
I hunted around on 'Google' and found the answer there. It is a terminal program as shown below.
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:mozillateam/thunderbird-stable; sudo apt-get update; sudo apt-get upgrade -y
Then restart Thunderbird and .... Bingo all good again.
