Wireless NBN performance

Optus have sent me an email about the poor performace of NBN wireless. On of the remedies they offer is moving to a lower speed tier.

Option 2: Move to a lower nbn™ fixed wireless speed pack and receive a credit to your account

You can choose to change to a lower speed plan or speed pack. We will not charge you any fees to change your plan.

However, Optus only offers a single speed tier on NBN fixed wireless, so the offer is completely meaningless. Do the people from Optus who write these things have a clue what's going on? They give the impression of total incompetence.

Re: Wireless NBN performance

Only offers a single tier now - pretty sure they got rid of the 50/20 option due to this.

Re: Wireless NBN performance

Impression of incompetence sure. But somehow they've still come out ahead?

FWIW the ACCC effective dictated the responce they required all RSPs to take when it became apparent that they were selling plans that couldn't be achieved. You've quoted some of the text. Until then many RSPs we're selling 25/50/100 Mbps plans at differing prices so the refund made sense. But to get around offering refunds many RSPs (Optus  included) removed the 25Mbps tier altogether (or priced it at the same amount as the 50Mbps teir). Problem solved.

If you can find a slower NBN plan elsewhere that is cheaper then you could take up Option 1 (leave).
