Wifi Connectivity on Sagemcom F@st 3864

Hi Guys,

We are currently experiencing unstable Wifi Connection on the modem stated above.  The issue is we have been losing wifi connectivity on our mobile devices and laptops regularly over the last few days and it required us to regularly restart our modem to get back the wifi connectivity.  I have spoken to tech support, but all they suggested was to do a hard reset of the modem.  Here are some key points:

  • We do have internet connection, only our devices can't connect via wifi to the modem.  My desktop computer has internet connection via the ethernet cable.
  • Every time we restart or reset the modem, we do regain wifi connectivity, but it only lasts anywhere between 10 mins to a few hours
  • Our mobile devices can see and find our wifi modem, but just won't authenticate the connection or connect to it
  • No problems with wifi password - it is correct and we have double checked this
  • I have tried changing to the Channel setting from Auto to a specific channel i.e. 7, 8, this seemed to last about 12 hours.  But somehow, eventually I lost wifi connectivity again.
  • One very interesting point:  when I go into the modem settings, i.e. on http://192.168.0.1/ and go to advanced settings\wireless\advanced, and without making any changes, I just simply click "Save/apply" and somehow our devices are able to connect to the model again via Wifi.

Therefore, I have a feeling it might be a firmware issue?  Or could there be something else?

Our software version is: 8.353.1_F@ST5350_Optus

Thanks for your help.

Eric

Get this https://www.umart.com.au/Ubiquiti-UniFi-AP-Indoor-802-11n-Access-Point_35834G.html and never worry about wifi again, no matter what dodgy router Optus provides you.  Minimal setup.  Or spend time upgrading FW and dealing with Optus support for weeks.Smiley Happy

@Realistix good call, Ubiquiti AP offer solid performace. I am using the UAP-Pro for a few years now, solid, never fails. Depending on your budget maybe consider the Unifi AC or Unifi HD.

The strange thing is that my Optus modem and Netgear WIFI was working perfectly before but for the last few days, my WIFI keep on dropping out or unable to auto connect. However, the Ubiquiti AP works perfectly. I might turn off some of my APs and try to isolate the issues.

restarted the modem, access points etc. I think i found the issue for my WIFI network. It turns out to be my android phone. When I go into "manage saved networks", I found duplication in the different APs. So I delete them all and just add in the Sagem WIFI for test. Work solid for the last 2 hours, no drop out. I will add in more APs (without duplications) and test some more in the morning.

current firmware:

8.358_F@ST3864AC_Optus

Thanks all for the replies.

Can you clarify what you mean by finding duplication of the different APs?  As you had duplication for the same access points?

Thanks for your help.

I have 5 Access points in my house and for 4 of them I can see 2-3 duplications on the manage network screen of my phone. Go to your manage known network and have a look for any duplication.
