For 24/7 support message our team of experts via the My Optus app.
I've been told by optus that when first connected to nbn the speed is very slow and it takes 1 to 2 weeks to 'gear up' to the speed you are paying for eg 50/20. Is this correct?
I've never heard of this before from others who have connected

No, they are just making excuses.
The 'box' is about 4 houses away from me but I am paying for 50/20 which I was told will give 40mbps most times. The nbn is actually faster than adsl I had which had a max d/l of 6.0mbps and often down to .46mbps. Optus told me that was due to the nbn doing work somewhere around here but I think they say a lot of things just to get you off the phone.
Yes thanks had a couple of replies. I'm still not impressed with the optus response of course ie the nbn takes a while to adjust to the cables (1-2 weeks) I think they might be a bit more inventive than that.
Thanks for your reply.
