Setting DNS to block porn site using Sagemcom FAST5366TN-A

I NEED to change the DNS Servers on my new NBN Modem ( Sagemcom FAST5366TN-A) to link back to OpenDNS to limit porn and adult sites on my kids computers and devices.   Is there another option that is provided by Optus to meet this need - if so let me know.

Seems the new modem is locked down thus creating an  situation where my provider (Optus) is opening my home to unwanted elements on the internet because they don't provide this safety net.   Sorry we all watched Westpac last week, will Optus be next week with their roll-out of modems that don't have the appropriate controls in place.

So Optus, how do I change the DNS.  If this is not possible does it take a case to go to the ombudsman to raise that Optus is enforcing through their devices the promotion of porn to minors?

Ok this is a bit sensationalised but need to do what it takes to get this addressed quickly as many people are complaining about the access on this modem and it does have consequences when things like this happen.

Getting my new modem and reading the impossibility it is to changing a DNS (this should be standard access folks) and limiting tools that should be possible as a parent to protect children.  I'm not against adult sites for adults, just don't like it when I can't limit minors from getting exposed to it.  Not sure if this needs the ombudsman to act on it - but trying here first.

Still no word at this stage. I have raised this question with our Network engineering team.

From my own personal experience, I've never owned an Optus supplied modem which allows you to set a custom DNS from the modem. It's always been a feature that's locked down.

The team has mentioned that they're making an assessment on the security implications of allowing customers to set a custom DNS from the modem settings page, but I haven't heard much talk of it since.

You can change the DNS on a individual device level. There's a great guide up on howtogeek

Thanks Dan C
Sadly this was available on the cable Netgear modem supplied by Optus before moving to the NBN - hence the issue with the new modem. If anyone could recommend a device that works from Optus as a replacement that works with has phone capability and isn't $$$ it would assist.
