The Sagemcom modem that came with my NBN package is simply unable to port forward.
I've had F@ST's with Optus in the past with no problem, all firmware is updated and everything and anything that could wrong seems fine. The modem is the issue.
As a network engineer this severely impacts my work, I think I need a new modem, can I request one for free or do I have to buy my own? Will Optus allow that?

From this message it would seem port forwarding is not an option
Port Forwarding is a very standard internet functionality these days (required for many devices to make them remotely accessible) . I'm surprised Optus don't have this capability any more. Its not quite the same but close to saying "Optus doesn't allow connections to www.google.com".
@Adonis what NBN Technology are you on?

You can swap in any NBN compatible FTTN unit then (but you will lose the landline - Optus don't release the codes needed as some ISPs do). Alternatively bridge a second modem however I'm not sure how that works with port forwarding.
