Does anybody have any tweaks for the RT-AC68U so I can get close to 100Mbps on my NBN connection?
Currently it's averaging aroung 40/45Mbps.
But if I plug the Sagecom FAST5366TN-A in it averages a tad faster at around 55Mbps.
I know I'm nowhere near the advertised 100Mbps but I'll sort that out later.
I just need any tips and tweaks for the RT-AC68U please.
Sagecom firmware is HORRIBLE.
I wouldn't have thought you'd need to tweak the RT-AC68U to get solid speeds.
I've got an RT-N66U with a solid 95/37 on FTTC. I'm running Merlin firmware rather then stock,
Optus will only support the FAST5366 and not the RT-AC68U, so you need to do your speed test with the FAST5366 and have that plugged in when you report speed problems to Optus.
I'm also on the Merlin firmware.
I have no idea why I can't get faster average speeds with it to be honest.
I'll need to do more testing.
Yes. I'm aware of Optus not supporting non-provided modems/routers.
I honestly wouldn't have signed up with them, it's because my brother bundles his mobile phone and nbn with Optus for his business.
I haven't made any speed related tweaks, and can't think any setting that would impact speed.
I assume you don't have any other devices using internet while you do the speed test, especially any that might be connected to the Asus and not the Sagemcom that might account for the difference between the two.
I get the same speeds whether its NBN->RT-N66U->Switch->PC, or NBN->RT-N66U->Phone(5Ghz WiFi)
You haven't said what variant of NBN you have. However, if it is FTTN, the most likely reason is that the ASUS has a Mediatek chipset whereas the Sagemcom has Broadcom. NBN recommend Broadcom modems, probably for a good reason. The difference is significant when you are >400 metres wire length from your node.
