I'm wondering if there is a way for OPTUS to; or to do it myself manually
- optimise the routing to the IP address of a site I use for work.
When I run the command "tracert" there are 25 hops for the signal to reach the destination; with a significant lag at some servers.
It is causing drop outs and poor connection to this site.
Otherwise my internet speed is fine.

You dont mention ping to the end point nor where in the world its located.
Optus only can directly control what's in their own network and do use local and international upstream providers and peers.
You could try a vpn close to you and see if they have better routing.

These are the details, it's going from Australia to the US.

So the big jump to 184.108.40.206 is very normal as its gone all the way to US, this one is a Singtel international link (so still Optus).
After that it uses the Comcast network (this is out of the control of Optus), Comcast then takes it across the US then finally onto the company on the other end.
Comcasts network has lots of ups and downs.
I tested this on one of my boxes at a data centre in Brisbane, this is mine (not on Optus)
Less hops, but very close ping times to the actual end point.
A VPN may help you out by not routing via Comcast (or in this case Comcrap)
