NBN web hosting not working

I used to have ADSL2 with Optus and I was able to server a simple webpage from home for testing purposes via webserver.

I have now switched to NBN and this is not working.

- Windows 10 machine not changed

- Port forwarding the same

- IP address's correct

- Firewall correct

- Port 80 appears to be open

- I cant access the FTTC Connection Device to check those settings

Can anyone think of what could be wrong?

@igrummettHave you checked to see if you are behind CGNAT?

Re: NBN web hosting not working

Hi and thnaks for the reply.  I have checked the Public IPv4 address via https://whatsmyip.com/ and it is the same as the Public IP address on My Gateway.

Is there another way I can check if behind a CGNAT?

Thanks

Try a different port as port 80 is typically blocked.

Re: NBN web hosting not working

Hi, thanks for the reply

Yes - I have also tried 8081 and that had the same issue.    Not sure if this helps but I do have RDP working remotely (obviously via different posts) so that would confirm IP addresses and gateway functioning of for those.

Thanks

Re: NBN web hosting not working

I suspect my issue might be settings within the FTTC Connection Device but Optus have not supplied the details to acces this.

Does anyone know the default details to access the FTTC Connection Device.

The reason I think this is the problem was we needed to change the ADSL equivalent which I had access to.

Its not. That's managed by NBN and not Optus. If there is any network level blocking it will be done by Optus before it reaches the FTTC connection device.

The ADSL equivalent would have been your Optus router not Optus modem. The FTTCCD is effectively a modem in bridge mode.

Re: NBN web hosting not working

Hi,

My terminology might have been a little misleading.  With ADSL2 I had an Optus Modem and Wifi Gateway.  I have access to both and had to make changes to both to get the web page hosted locally to be available externally.  e.g. in the Gateway I needed to set port forwarding.

I now have the FTTC connection device and a Wifi Gateway.  I have access to the gateway where I can do the port forwarding but no access to the connection device to check those settings.  This may have firewall or NAT settings.

Hope this helps

What changes would you have had to make to the Optus ADSL modem to get your locally hosted pages to load?

Re: NBN web hosting not working

We no longer have the modem as Optus took ot away but my recollection was NAT setttings and firewall.

Does anyone know how to access that divice so I can check....
