I am trying to ping my Sagemcom Fast modem, the IP address is display under the WAN connection. I can tracert to the IP address, but I am unable to ping the address. I previously had an Optus Cisco modem with the option to turn the ICMP WAN requests on or off

Summary from the online conversations with Optus Tesch Support:
Optus does not have any documentation for the Sagemcom Fast 3864AC regarding settings on the WAN port
There is only the tech support to help and if they can't solve your issue they refer you to Premium Home Support. The customer needs to pay for any support from Premium Home Support.
There is also no Tier 2 or 3 support level 1 is the only support that Optus has,
The other support provided is to call Sagemcom, who don't answer their phones
So Optus can not support the devices that they have supplied with custom Optus firmware
After some further testing, the Sagemcom device is the issue, not sure if it is the Optus firmware or the base device. I have connected another router and it can ping the alternative router via the internet. Good news at least that they have only blocked port 25 and not ICMP on the NBN
Forget sagemcom for support ueseless.
If you want to be able to ping from a WAN address you just need to allow icmp requests.
In this modem:
Advanced Setup -> Security -> IP Filtering -> Incoming -> click add
Give the filter a name such as: ICMP
select the protocol: icmp
leave everyhting else blank
make sure your wan interface is ticked.
apply/save you device should now repsone to ping from the wan interface.
The change allow you to ping the Sagemcom device from the internet. I have limited to 22.214.171.124/16. Easy way to check if there is network and device is up
