NBN Modem Set Up 2.4 and 5 GHz

I've had the NBN connected today and have connected my new Optus modem to the NBN connection device without any hassles and the internet is working as should

I decided to rename the modem by accessing set up menu in 192.168.0.1

accessing that I noticed the modem device has two names. both as given by optus, but one as 2.4 GHz and the other as 5Ghz

I renamed the 2.4 GHz netwrok name as my wifi only picks up that one, but should I be accessing the 5GHz network?

it doesnt show up on my wifi settings

Re: NBN Modem Set Up 2.4 and 5 GHz

Do you have a dual band nWifi card installed...if your equipment is fairly old it will only have single band (2.4Ghz) hence it wont show the 5Ghz.... My Laptop is pretty old and i have bought a dual band WiFi adapter so i can use the faster 5Ghz. They are fairly cheap to buy on ebay.
