NBN Modem Connection to managed Switches - Drop Out

We recently had NBN connected with Fibre to Kerb and Sagemcom F@ST_5366 modem installed.

Our house is fitted with a complicated smart house system with Cbus and at any one point around 26 devices running including Sonos, security, Apple TV, Foxtel multple computers and other devices. We have a full rack with al the devices installed including two 24 port managed switches.

To date we've had Cable Broadband.

Now for the problem. The NBN is working perfectly, great speed and the WIFI signal is perfect, until we plug the modem into one of the managed switches. Depending on what is being used in the house, it takes around 20 mins, sometimes more and sometimes less but in every instance, the NBN stops working via the Lan system. As we have WIFI extenders throughout the house, so do these.

The WIFI from the Optus Modem continues to work. The only way to fix it is to reboot the modem. I have no clue on why and how to fix this.

FYI we had a similar issue with the Cable Broadband. We fixed this by placing the Cable Modem in Bridge mode, inserted another third party router in between Optus Cable modem and the managed switches.

Unfortunately the new NBN Modem does not support Bridge mode.

Help!!

With FTTC the NBN box is the modem and it only operates in bridge mode, so just don't use the 5366 at all and connect your preferred router directly into the NBN box.

Do you use the Optus fixed-line phone?
