I have OPTUS NBN HFC. I have Sagecom F@ST 3864v3 AC Modem. I also have a Netgear Nighthawk XR500 Wireless Router. I have connect the Ethernet cable from the Sagecom to the Netgear's Wan port. Since December 2018. I have noticed recently I have been having internet drop outs but the NBN modem has all four lights, so I am thinking the problem is from the Sagecom. At least once a day I have to restart the Sagecom for the internet connection to start working again. Does anyone know what it's from?
@SteveZ Have you checked for a firmware update?
If you are not using the Optus NBN VOIP landline I have read you do not need the Optus Modem once the connection is working.
@Tigers1719Thank you but I power cycled the Sagecom today and I checked if it had the latest update yesterday and I couldn't find any new update so I'm sure it up to date. I also need the Optus Voip landline so I need the Optus Sagecom Modem.
@SteveZ If you are prepared to commit to Optus for 3years you can upgrade to a new modem which includes built in 4G Backup. You have to sign up for anew plan but is an option to consider.
Re your current Modem you could message Optus support via the My Optus app or post in Whirlpool to see if anyone else has had a similar issue.
@Tigers1719I'm already on a 24 month plan which will end in December this year. Even if I had passed those 24 months and I could switch without paying a fee I would still wait to see if Optus is going to get any new high speed plans next month. NBN Co is going to release more speeds at then end of May for FTTP and HFC. If the prices are good I might switch in December to a 250/25 mbps connection. But anyway back to the point I might post it in Whirpool and If people are having the issue I might ask Optus Support for a free replacement Modem.
