NBN Broadband Internet


We are experiencing some internet problems and wondered if anyone else  is experiencing similar problems.
Our internet seems to be half working. When loading sites, images won’t load, Netflix won’t load, and sites take a long time to load or don’t load at all. Email works well. We tested the internet speed and all is normal.
We have turned our modem off and on and and have reset it. No improvement. Optus tells us the problem is between the ‘pole’ and our apartment and to engage a local technician. They are sending a new modem just in case. Ours is just over a year old. All has been working week until 2days ago.

Are you on Cable, Fibre to the Node on NBN?  Have you tried plugging your PC in via Cable instead of Wireless?  Have you tried looking at your Modem's web interface settings to see if on FTTN, what the Line Speed is? The address is usually under the modem something like http://192.168.0.1 and admin/admin to see the Line Sync speed?

Thanks for answering. We are fibre to the node and did use a hardware connection. We rang Optus again to make sure they were sending correct modem. We thought we would instal new modem before engaging a technician. The Optus technician we got this time said she would reset from her end and do a few more checks and would ring us back within the hour. 10 minutes later internet was working perfectly! When she rang back I asked how come she could fix it in 10 minutes with no new modem or technician required when 2 previous members could not. She said she probably had more experience. 3 years. So next time if we don’t think we are getting adequate  help I might ask how long they have been working at  Optus! Doesn’t say much for their training program!

Glad you got your connection sorted! Sounds like the CSR reset the Port on the NBN Node, you may have had a locked port, or they may have put the Stability Profile on your VDSL line.  Not great that you had to ring them several times but thats what happens when company's use offshore customer service, that churns staff often.  At least you have a working connection again and didnt need a tech!
