Moving to a non NBN area

AgentMoulder

I moved to Brisbane from Sydney 6 months ago. Since this was an NBN area, Optus charged me $300 for NBN setup (the apartment was already NBN ready with connection and equipment. Optus installed nothing just upgraded my modem). Now I am moving back to a Non NBN area. Do I get a refund?

The $300 went to NBN (no refunds, the charge is for the address not person).

From the NBn website:

  • nbn is required to deliver a one-time charge of $300 (incl. GST) to the phone and internet providers that place an order for an nbn™ access network service to a new development – providers may choose to pass the charge on to their end users.
