I think the port blocking is dynamic, I have to change ports every few days, it is very frustrating. Does anyone know how request Optus stop blocking ports? Does it help if you switch to a business account and get a static IP?
If I request that Port 25 Outbound be unblocked, can I then send multiple emails to my customers? or will it reblock again after a short time? This is really frustrating and no information is available from Optus on how to overcome it!
Can you help?
Hey opal, if you've had port 25 unblocked then you can use your external mail provider's mail settings have your emails go through their email server. This will bypass our Optus email server and any restrictions. You'll need to get your external mail settings from your other provider and input them into your mail program.
Thanks for your reply! .... However, I am not a Techi! What do you mean by using the settings of my 'external mail provider' to bypass Optus blockage? I want to use my optus email server to send an email with an attachement to 150 customers directly from my software programme where I composed my email through my optus email address. After sending 10 emails it was blocked and took 24hours to unblock!!!!!. After contacting Optus support from overseas where I am at the moment, no one could give me any decent feedback about the blockage and how I can send multiple emails in the future without experiencing this blocking again. Or do I have to have a more expensive 'business plan' with Optus to be able to do this?
How do normal businesses send multiple emails to their customers? This service is readily available through service providers overseas. Why does this problem only seem to occur with Optus? Unfortunately, I had to cancel my original marketing plan & will be following up on my return to Australia. TOTALLY DISAPPOINTED AND FRUSTRATED WITH OPTUS!!!!
If your service is listed as being residential there are restriction in place to protect our customers from thing like spam. One option would be to go on a business plan, which does not have restrictions, another option would be a third party email provider that specialise in marketing campaigns and sending out newsletters etc.
Thanks for your reply! However, this is still unsatisfactory. If my service is listed as `business´ how much extra does this cost?
Also blocking Port 25 for 24hours is ridiculous! and trying to receive some customer service while overseas is extremely frustrating! ..... Sorry, still not impressed with Optus!
When I am back in Australia what telephone number can I call for further assistance & explanation?
