HFC NBN - Combined Modem and HFC box?

For those of us on HFC NBN connections, does Optus have any plans to merge the two separate HFC box and Modem/Router into the one product?  Surely one of your suppliers can do this.  It was kind of happening with regular Optus Cable broadband, so why can't this happen with HFC NBN?

Re: HFC NBN - Combined Modem and HFC box?

On NBN - NBN itself provides the HFC box, leaving the isp to provide the router.

This is how NBN have set it up, you are not able to substitute in another HFC all in one device at all.

Re: HFC NBN - Combined Modem and HFC box?

Consider that millions of homes have 100's of different devices. NBNCo could have mandated that a specific device be used but that would have involved throwing out millions of perfectly fine modems. Instead the NBNCo has provided a single device with a single port that almost all existing devices can just plug into and work.

If you want to you can sometimes buy a new modem that doesn't need the NCD provided but that's personal preference.

On NBN HFC you have NO option on an all in 1 unit.
The HFC device itself is provided and owned by NBN.
