Changing IP address.

Is there any way to change the IP address? I can't access some websites due to the problem. When I was with Telstra all I had to do was turn off my modem for 5 minutes then restart it and I'd have a new IP address, everywhere I check on the internet says the same thing. I even reset the modem by pressing the reset button and nothing happens. Would buying my own modem to use make it possible to change the IP address by turning it off then on after five minutes?

Re: Changing IP address.

Turn the modem off over night. IPs are sticky but not static. Should be enough.

Check your new address on whatsmyip.com

Re: Changing IP address.

Then you'll have to try a little longer.

Optus doesn't offer static IP addresses.

So at some point if yours is unassigned then someone else will pick it up.
