I don't know if I'm asking about something technically impossible but I have a pretty fact router that had a gigabit Ethernet WAN port on the back. Is there any chance it could be hooked up to one of the four gigabit Ethernet ports on the sagecom modem and work as a wifi network?
The wifi on the supplied NBN modem is terrible (I'd turn it off) and the wifi on this router is significantly faster.
if you're wondering why I don't plug is straight to the wall instead I'm trying to keep the VoIP phone working (I understand the phone is Optus modem only).

Yes you can certainly do this. You need to put the Optus provided modem in to bridge mode ( at the same time turn the wifi off on this modem)
