After a lightning strike took out the NBN box, an ethernet cable & my other wifi router, I can't telnet into the 3864. The NBN box has been replaced & I'm about to see if I can just use the 3864 for Wifi.
The PC connection via ethernet is OK & have connected a wifi device to it, so that works.
I need to change the name & password, but can't even login. I've tried the name & password on the bottom of the router + the other usual option offered in this forum - 'optus', 'password', etc. None of which work.
Next option please?
Maybe the 3864 was damaged as well. You could give it a factory reset and see if its just a temporary issue or if maybe there is something more permanent.
Morning @canyoner
Could you try the username: admin and password: password?
Otherwise, you can factory reset the modem (you'll need a small PIN or thing object to press down on the reset button. That'll restore all modem details back to their factory default login (including your WiFi network name (SSID) and password (WiFi Key) as well as the modem GUI login username and password.

At-least we're on the same page 😉

No problem. Its certainly not the first time its happened (not just to me either of course).
We use a Social Media response platform, it incorporates all of our Social Media including Yes Crowd into the one response platform.
There's a slight delay flow through delay, so we run into this issue now and then.
My fingers a little heavy on the trigger today hah.
Factory reset. Disconnect power off for 2 mins (just in case a capacitor has to discharge). Still not able to log in to it.
Landline which runs through the router all OK too.. Just can't long in.
Might have fried something in the router too.
The NBN tech who swapped out the NBN box was surprised at the NBN box as it had all the right lights on but no connectivity.
