After months of no NBN and loads of hassel. Ombusdsman got involved and I got $2299 compensation from Optus. NOT for no internet when they said I would get it but because they did not activate the phone . You only get compensation if your phone is not connected when Optus say it will. 

I don't even use the home phone. I did once call my mobile so I could get the home phone number.

So when you get an NBN package make sure you also get a home phone in the package.
