You can upgrade at any stage during a contact though to do it for free it would need to be done during the last 2 months of the 24.

I am not sure 2 months is correct (anymore!)
Have just been told by an Optus dealer the 2 month time frame has been halved to 1 month.
For returning customers, who wish to stay with Optus, I think this is rather disheartening (if true).
There's only 30-odd days to wait before the user is free to weigh up other options!
I can confirm that the above is correct.
Existing customers can now upgrade one month prior to their contract ending.

I am eligible for an "upgrade" on december 1, 2012.
I am currently on the $99 timeless plan - however - feel that this was a poor choice for myself, and would like to actually "downgrade" to a lesser contact.
Is this going to be possible? Im willing to commit to another 2 year contract, but the $65 odd dollar one.
