old sim in prepaid phone

Hi,

My old samsung has died and I'm on a monthly plan. Is it possible to buy a prepaid phone (with optus as carrier) and just put my sim into it? 
Would there be any problems or could I just carry on as normal? (using same monthly plan and phone number I have now?)

@swebb, I don't think you'll run into any issues.

For clarification, I do have a question

1). Your existing carrier is Optus? If you're currently running on the Optus Network, you can purchase an Optus Prepaid handset and carry on as normal.

Now, depending on the handset you purchase, it may require a differently sized SIM card. You'll need to purchase a $2.00 SIM card and we'll transfer your existing number to the new SIM.
