Thanks for that advice.  As you know, I had messages arriving in my voicemail box yesterday and was unable to access them because of the system's refusal to recognize my number. I downloaded the Optus app this morning and selected the "redirect to voicemail options" I like, but there was no option for setting up a voicemail pin (which is presumably what I need, if your voicemail system is refusing to recognise my phone number).  I have just tried to access my voicemail again and the system STILL tells me that my number is invalid.  Perhaps the solution is just to turn voicemail off, rather than struggle with Artificial Intelligence that's just plain dumb.  I'll think about my options and ponder why I was stupid enough to leave Amysim - with whom everything worked really well - while I consider my options. Meanwhile, I'd be grateful if you would assist me with just one matter: why hasn't the "input your phone number" instruction been changed if the system won't recognise the correct phone numbers input  by customers? Why would Optus continue asking customers to do something that clearly doesn't work?

Hey @KelR, sorry to hear you are still having issues with that voicemail. We do recommend getting in touch with us via the Optus Facebook or Twitter so we can take a look at this for you. 


Inputting that phone number for voicemail does work, it may have been an issue as you have recently ported across. If you're able to get in touch we can follow this up.

Dear Rob, I don't wish to be rude but you are wrong.  I have just tried to log in to voice mail, nearly a week after my number was ported, and your software still tells me that my phone number is invalid.  This is the case, even though people are still able to ring me, using my longstanding ported number. I ask you again, "why bother requiring customers to follow a process that doesn't work?" I'd appreciate your honest answer.

Hi @KelR, not great to see you're still experiencing this issue. I recommend sending us a message via the My Optus App or our Message Us page. That way our Technical teams will be able to verify your account and assist you directly.

Dear Jack. You've got my message (above). What more do you want to know? Besides, I'm more troubled about my brand new 5G service not working at all. I'm telling all my mates about my Optus experience - one disaster after another - and they can't wait for the next instalment in the comedy.

Hey @KelR, the reason we recommend you contact us via the My Optus App or the Message Us page is because we can securely confirm your account details and take a closer look at your service. We're unable to do this through Yes Crowd as it's a public platform. 

As for your 5G service issue, I suggest giving our specialist 5G Technical Support team a call on 1300 101 693. Jack

Dear Jack, Hilarious. You mean to tell me that, using my optus email address etc (needed to participate in this discussion), you or someone else can't verify that my complaints relate to recent changes in my service? Hilarious. Mate, it's easier to go to the Telecommunications Ombudsman than be shunted from one component of your disconnected organisation to other parts of it. You probably mean well but the procedures you are required to comply with are ridiculous. I won't participate further in this dialogue. What's the point?! I just get referred elsewhere.

I had this problem. Turned out that I had a high number of rings before diverting to voicemail, which meant that they just got cut off before diverting. Change it to something short to test it first using the following: I used 20 secs instead of 30.
Optus: **61*321** (number of seconds: 15, 20, 25 or 30) #. Then press the call/send button.
