I recently purchased an Optus Doro 6520 and wish to use a Telstra SIM card with it. I have undertaken the Optus Request network unlock process and received my IMEI Unlock Code. When I attempt to enter it into the Doro phone with the Telstra SIM card, the screen appears to be locked into the SOS call only screen, so I receive a message "Emergency Number only". How can I get to the correct screen to enter the Unlock Code? Thanks tons for your help.
That phone will have only a very small amount of coverage on Telstra as it only supports a small part of Telstras 3g network.
Band 1 (2100) & Band 8 (900) is what the phone supports but Telstra mainly uses 850Mhz nationally for 3g and only has small areas of 2100Mhz
I would guess that it shows SOS is that it cant connect to Telstra at all as you most likely will not have 2100Mhz 3g coverage where you are.
Its kind of like buying a car that only runs on a particular type of fuel and that fuel is not available where you live.
When unlocking the phone, was there a confirmation message?
Thanks, Paddylee, but the different bandwidths cited for Telstra and Optus was not the issue, because my Telstra SIM card is now working with my Doro 6520 phone. I don't know what it was but I finally had success yesterday, although I did not receive advice from Optus that the phone had been unlocked, as they assured me would happen.
So, how did you finally unlock the phone? I am having the same problem with my Doro. I paid a unlock fee to Optus, they told me it would be unlocked as soon as I paid that. No joy. There's a "Op.Code "on the screen that requires a password, with a "Five Attempts" warning. What on Earth is that? many thanks for any help you can provide.
Generally an unlock code is issued that the user enters in the phone to complete the unlock process. Maybe a misunderstanding/miscommunication that as soon as you paid the unlock fee, the code would be issued, not that the phone would be immediately unlocked. Did you provide a contact number or e-mail address to have it sent it?
We'd suggest contacting Optus again to follow this up.
i asked about that - but nope, told when the rechargs was made, that would be it. No code offered. Turns out, after more inquiries, the phone needs a code from the maker!! Now I am waiting for Optus to get a message from them, which they will relay to me. This could take a week. wow...just ....wow.... No phone for over a week now. Still, let's hope.
The unlock finally arrived from Doro, through Optus. That only took over a month. However, the SIM won't pick up Telstra network (through Pennytel). Through network search it is picking up Optus 3G & Vodafone 3G. Is this an area thing because of 8 Band being limited (or is it 9 band? ) Now, I know other people use this particular model of phone with Telstra. Wondering what else is going on. Any help deeply appreciated - I actually mean that 🙂
Good news that your got your hands on the unlock code.
@Paddylee is our band man, he may be able to help 🙂
