I have an iphone 7 with Optus and am travelling overseas for 6 months. I have my overseas data roaming turned off, and can survive with just wifi. I have been able to divert my phone calls to a number I can access overseas, but would also like to divert any incoming text messages to the same number. I have been advised by an Optus representeative that this is not possible. So I have hoping someone in the YesCrowd might have better news for me.

@overseas_user12, thanks for reaching out to us here
I believe SMS forwarding needs to be enabled via the device settings. You can only forward text messages to an email address. As far as using this feature abroad, I'd really need to source some more info. It's worth giving the instructions below a shot:
- Launch the Settings app on your iPhone.
- Scroll down to the Messages option and tap on it.
- Tap on Send & Receive.
- Enable an email address by tapping on it.
