I went overseas and took my watch off flight mode. It connected to the network and started roaming. I am on the $59 plan with unlimited calls and 2gb roaming. Just wanted to confirm that this is shared with the watch.
Also, the Optus website says "You can take your connected wearable device overseas but it won't be able to Number Share and connect to a Mobile network. If you use your Postpaid Mobile Phone overseas, standard international roaming rates will apply."
This appears to be incorrect as my galaxy watch is able to roam on 4g and connect to my phone remotely. I'm unsure how this affects the charges
Okay so the chat guy told me to contact Roaming customer care on +61280825678
I spoke to Francis and he said that from my galaxy watch, I can use all my plan inclusions same as my mobile. It will not be billed separately or extra. Therefore I am able to use data from the 2Gb pool and make calls to Australia for free per my plan off my galaxy watch while in a Zone 1 country
Yeah thats not correct though as account based sharing does not happen when roaming. Number share is a backend link that goes over the top of the watch’s actual service to pretend its got the same number as the parent mobile.
The CIS document for the plan for watches states this: What’s not included The Connected Device plan does not include an allowance for standard national and international SMS and MMS. You also cannot use your plan’s included data whilst overseas.
