Roaming issue - no data connectivity

"You have lost data connectivity because you left your home network with data roaming turned off"

Have just arrived overseas having setup roaming before we left and get the above message.

Both mobiles are connected to the local network with 5 bar strength.

Not sure what it means or why it's happened but need it sorted so any help would be appreciated.

Is data roaming switched on within the settings of your handset? Normally it's off by default and people aren't aware when they head overseas.
