Overseas charges

Hi there,

I went abroad last month, and received a big bill - about $600 for overseas charges. My issue was - I barely used the internet as I was conscious of this!! On the first day I ended up having to make some work phone calls and check stuff on the internet without realising wifi wasn't on, I am fine to pay that amount. But subsequently I would turn on mobile data for about 1 minute to check a map and then straight off and I would get two sms's that night telling me I incurred another $100 total - ridiculous!!

Can I dispute this?

Re: Overseas charges

You can try. First step would be to find out what data was actually transferred. Was it an iPhone? What country was it?

Regardless phones can move quite a lot of data in the background. Ask Optus exactly how much data was used and on what days. Also check your own phone settings as this info can be available locally (as well as what apps used the data)
