Re: Optus locked phone not taking any SIM cards - AGAIN!!!!!

Hey Greg, thanks for reaching out!

What's the make and model of the handset you'd purchased?

Did you purchase the phone from us or a third party?

Have you tried an Optus SIM in the phone? That'd help us confirm whether there's an issue with the handset itself.

Re: Optus locked phone not taking any SIM cards - AGAIN!!!!!

@gg23, only the person that'd purchased the handset can request an unlock code from the website.

The form asks for the prepaid service number that you'd used with the handset.

I can always request an unlock from our back-office admin team but I'll need the details of the service the customer had with Optus.

Do you think that's something you could find out?

 it is **********

Previous owner's name is ********** and can be contacted on the above number

Thanks mate, I'll send that through to my back-office team. I also need the IMEI number of the handset.

Re: Optus locked phone not taking any SIM cards - AGAIN!!!!!

hi dan,

assumed all was ok as the carrier (Aldi) for the SIM card came up and i could send and receive text messages. Later I confirmed that I cant make or receive any calls. i called ALDI and they said that as the SIM card works properly with other phones (ive confirmed this on another handset) the problem isnt likely to be their service. They were quite helpful and assisted me to try and few different things, none of which worked. Ive also tried using an OPTUS SIM card from my phone on the new phone and everything works fine. Could the unlock not have done its job properly? Any ideas?

If I try and call the new phone, I get the "person is unable to take your call" message  and the called phone gets a text message indicating a missed call???

When I try calling from the new phone, i get no ring tone or sound of any kind, and the call attempt eventually times out.

Mobile data also works on the new phone with the aldi SIM card. So all i cant do is make and recieve voice calls?

thanks for your help,

greg

Re: Optus locked phone not taking any SIM cards - AGAIN!!!!!

Hmm, does the Network indicator on the top left of the screen shot up with a service provider? I believe ALDI mobile use Telstra's network to bring you service.

It might be worth performing a factory reset on the handset. Can I get you to try the following?

  1. Switch off the Oppo A73 Mobile
  2. Press the Volume Down button and Power button together for few seconds
  3. Release the buttons once you notice the ‘Oppo’ logo
  4. In the recovery mode screen, use the Volume up/down buttons to move between the options in order to select ‘Wipe Data / Factory Reset’
  5. Press the Power button to confirm
  6. Select ‘Yes’ by pressing the Power button
  7. Use the Volume up/down buttons to move between the options
  8. Select ‘Yes – Reboot Now’ by pressing the Power button
  9. The phone will reboot in few minutes with default factory settings

Let us know how you go.

Re: Optus locked phone not taking any SIM cards - AGAIN!!!!!

hi dan,

yes, the network indicator on the top left of the screen shows ALDImobile as service provider. and the mobile network setting automaitcally select telstra so that side of it appears to be ok.

still no luck. everything works except voice calls? Is this unusual. Phone must be ok as I have tested it with another OPTUS SIM and all is ok. Dont have any other SIM's to try but as it is working with an OPTUS SIM card could the unlock have only been partial?

thanks

greg
